This is my third week without training, due to my sciatic injury in my lower back, however I will be back training by the end of this week. Upto know I have been maintaining my healthy eating, consisting of around 3,000 to 3,500 calories a day, of low "bad fat" food, but including "good fat" food. Also staying away from processed foods wherever possible, this means cooking more meals from scratch at home, using natural ingredients. Also eating lots of fruit and veg.
However over the last 2 days I have eaten cake (my son's Bithday cake) after each meal or with a brew. I have been to McDonalds eating big mac, fries etc (first time for probably 3 months) and eaten processed, microwave meals as snacks (lets face it that is about all they are worth, as they never fill you up for long), eating chocolate and ice cream. Madness you may be thinking, gone of the rails, why after all this time let yourself go....etc.
Well it is all planned and will continue for another 2 days, you see it is important to keep your metabolism firing on all cylinders, and so a shock to the system is exactly what it needs sometimes. Many times if your diet hits a plateau the best way to jump start your weight loss is to indulge yourself for a day, then go back to your diet and see the effects, the answer is NOT to reduce your calorie intake even further, otherwise if you follow it to its logical conclusion you end up eating nothing, AND your body will go into what we call starvation mode, which means you start to store fat, your metabolism slows, making you feel slow and sluggish and you actually start to gain fat....exactly the opposite of what you want to happen.
So don't worry I have not lost it and neither should you, just make sure you plan and manage your diet and you will succeed. Good Luck
