CYQ Assesment and Music

Went to Chesterfield Fitness First Gym on Sunday morning, for a CYQ Personal Trainer Assesment, with Drummond Training. It went very well and the Gym was nice and spacious, with a good selection of equipment, the music was loud though, which is ok if your in a class (although not my preference) but there isn't any need to be really loud in the Gym part, is there?
Maybe I am just getting old, but it wasn't even upbeat music that would help your performance, there have been a number of studies done, and I read a scientific report on the benefit of music when training, especially whilst running, and it clearly showed the benefit of music, as long as it had the right tempo, and each song was played in the right order. You can now download albums that have been specifically pieced together for warm up, run and through cool down. So if you have an ipod then take a look at them, or create your own, just remember to think tempo for each stage of your run, it could well help to shave some time of your run.
However, I don't believe, and haven't seen any reports showing the benefit of loud, poorly selected music in a gym.
